Tamoxifen Tablets BP 40 mg is a higher dose of Tamoxifen used in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. It works as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM), which blocks the action of estrogen in breast tissue, inhibiting the growth of estrogen-dependent cancer cells. Tamoxifen is commonly used as an adjuvant therapy after surgery, in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer, and sometimes for breast cancer prevention in high-risk individuals.

The 40 mg dosage is typically taken in two divided doses (20 mg twice daily) for patients requiring a higher dose, especially in more advanced stages of cancer or metastatic disease, as prescribed by a healthcare provider. Common side effects may include hot flashes, nausea, fatigue, vaginal dryness, and an increased risk of blood clots, stroke, or uterine cancer.
